In a desperate attempt to suppress embarrassing details regarding his personal conduct, French lawyer Raphael Darmon has sued WordPress over letters he solicited his lawyer to write on his behalf. Obviously Mr. Darmon, who claims to be a hot shot lawyer at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, has no concept of freedom of speech as defined by the American Constitution and has no notion as to what is considered private or confidential information. We suggest he consider suing his own lawyers if he thinks the content of the letter they wrote on his behalf defames him or violates his privacy.
He has also probably never heard of the SPEECH Act, or he would have known that foreign libel judgements are not enforceable in the US, for they are deemed “repugnant to the Constitution or laws of the United States”.
